The National COE adjusts requirements for entry of travelers to Galapagos Three cases of patients with the Delta variant of Covid-19 were detected in Galapagos, this forced the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) to make an adjustment to the requirements for travelers who want to visit the archipelago. On August 20, 2021, the president of the COE, released the documents that tourists must present from August 27:
- A negative PCR test carried out maximum 72 hours before the trip.
- The complete vaccination card valid for at least 14 days.
The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, said that the three cases have been isolated and placed in epidemiological fences to prevent the spread of the variant. She also announced that the first days of September will start the vaccination of young people from 12 to 16 years to achieve greater immunity in the population of Galapagos.
STAYING SAFE
Few reminders never hurt… The best way to stay healthy, at home or traveling, is to practice good hygiene
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, or use the inside of your elbow.
• Throw used tissues in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
